The 12 Week Year
Time flies when there are 52 weeks in a year but after reading The 12 Week Year, wow, does 12 weeks fly by even faster!
With triple digit temps rising throughout the summer, I think it’s safe to say we are all ready to move on to cooler weather. With only a handful of months before the year comes to an end, it’s now time to review our 2018 goals. Are you on target? Have you and your team accomplished the objectives you set out in in the beginning of the year?
The book, The 12 Week Year, covers a very intriguing concept. The premise of the book is that we often spend much of the year allowing other things to steal our attention and, when it’s down to the last couple of months, we start scrambling to hit our goal. Sometimes the results of the last-minute scramble can be successful, but most of the time, they are not.
The book explains that you can accomplish more in 12 weeks than the average person can in 12 months. Your focus should be on a shorter timeline to get goals accomplished than expand out for the whole year.
I’m still working through the book but as I sit and review our overall plan we put forth for 2018, I’m happy to see all the accomplishments we’ve had and the wins we’ve achieved. We added more members to our team, working with new technology partners to assist our clients better and most of all, we’re communicating at a higher level with one another.
Our company set an initiative to reduce the chaos and set quarterly goals for our entire company. Ending our second goal as a win, we’re constantly improving ourselves and learning more on what we can do better. Now, we’re not perfect by any means and we can have the occasional hiccups, but my team is focused and ready to take on any challenges that come our way.
Taking the time now to review your overall plan allows you to see not only your victories but also what’s still left to truly win 2018. The year is not over and with Q4 around the corner, we need to stay focus on the bigger picture.
Are you on target? Have you and your team hit your objectives you set out in in the beginning of the year? What is stopping you from making this a winning year? I’d love to get together to hear more and how I can be of assistance to you.
Tony Robbins once said, “There is a powerful driving force inside every human being that, once unleashed, can make any vision, dream, or desire a reality.” Let’s continue making 2018 the year of winning and make our goals a reality!
